The Audio-Technica VM520EB moves up to a bonded elliptical stylus, a smaller and more precisely shaped tip than the conical styli used on entry-level VM500 Series models. The elliptical profile makes better contact with the groove walls, improving high-frequency response and tracking accuracy while keeping the same dual moving magnet platform.
The cartridge uses an aluminum cantilever and a low-resonance polymer body with a center shield plate to reduce crosstalk between channels, along with a paratoroidal coil design for improved efficiency. Threaded inserts allow simple two-screw mounting to any standard 1/2" headshell.
Ideal for turntables using a standard 1/2" mount tonearm, and a solid mid-tier choice for listeners who want a noticeable step up in detail over an entry-level conical cartridge.
