Audio-Technica VM610X/MONO
The VM610X/MONO is a dedicated mono cartridge built for vintage and reissued mono LPs, using a conical mono-specific stylus that tracks only the horizontal groove modulation for lower surface noise.

- Brands: Audio Technica
- Cartridge type: moving magnet
The Audio-Technica VM610X/MONO is purpose-built for mono record collectors, pairing a conical mono-specific stylus with a Dual Moving Magnet generator tuned to reproduce only horizontal groove modulation. Because true mono records carry no vertical information, this design rejects vertical rumble, surface noise, and warp-induced artifacts that a standard stereo cartridge would pick up, resulting in a noticeably quieter, more focused playback of vintage and reissued mono pressings.
The cartridge uses an aluminum pipe cantilever and a 0.6 mil conical bonded stylus shaped to sit correctly in the wider grooves of older mono pressings, avoiding the groove-wall contact issues a narrower stereo-profile stylus can run into on well-worn records.
A straightforward member of the VM600 Series, the VM610X/MONO mounts to any standard 1/2" headshell with just two screws and no nuts required, making it an easy, affordable way to get accurate mono playback without retuning a whole system.
