The Rega Planar 8 is a high-end belt-drive turntable that is built for a remarkably low-noise, high-resolution performance. This package comes with the Ania Pro moving coil cartridge factory-fitted, with a Vital profile nude diamond on a tapered aluminium cantilever, an iron micro-cross assembly and one of the world's smallest MC generators for exceptional transparency and speed.
The Planar 8 is built around an ultra-lightweight skeletal plinth made from Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core, reinforced with Rega's Double Brace technology, which links the tonearm mounting and main bearing so that the plinth adds as little energy as possible to the sound. A 24V low-noise motor and Reference EBLT drive belt turn a triple-layer float-glass platter with a super-flywheel effect for outstanding speed stability, and the hand-assembled RB880 tonearm uses Rega's ultra-low-friction bearings.
The custom-matched Rega Neo PSU is included for electronic switching between 33-1/3 and 45 RPM with fine speed adjustment. The Planar 8 has no built-in phono stage, so connect it to an amplifier with an MC phono input or a separate phono stage. It is available in matt Polaris grey or matt white. Bought at Blacknote, the Planar 8 Ania Pro MC comes with Rega's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
