The Audio-Technica AT-VM95SP is a specialist cartridge built for mono and 78 RPM playback. It uses a 3.0 mil spherical/conical stylus profile that rides higher in the groove than modern stereo styli, tracking the wider-cut walls of vintage mono and shellac 78 discs while avoiding noise picked up from worn stereo groove information.
Like the rest of the VM95 Series, the AT-VM95SP uses a dual moving magnet design and an aluminum cantilever, with a low-resonance polymer cartridge body and threaded inserts for simple two-screw mounting to any standard 1/2" headshell. Because true mono playback benefits from summing both channels, the AT-VM95SP is also useful in archiving and restoration workflows where isolating a single channel can help minimize surface noise and distortion.
Ideal for turntables using a standard 1/2" mount tonearm, especially for collectors and archivists working with mono LPs and 78 RPM shellac records.
