The Rega Planar 8 is a high-end belt-drive turntable that is built for a remarkably low-noise, high-resolution performance. This package is supplied with the RB880 tonearm and Neo PSU and no cartridge fitted, so you can choose and set up the cartridge that best suits your system.
The Planar 8 is built around an ultra-lightweight skeletal plinth made from Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core, reinforced with Rega's Double Brace technology, which links the tonearm mounting and main bearing so that the plinth adds as little energy as possible to the sound. A 24V low-noise motor and Reference EBLT drive belt turn a triple-layer float-glass platter with a super-flywheel effect for outstanding speed stability, and the hand-assembled RB880 tonearm uses Rega's ultra-low-friction bearings.
The custom-matched Rega Neo PSU is included for electronic switching between 33-1/3 and 45 RPM with fine speed adjustment. The Planar 8 has no built-in phono stage, so connect it to an amplifier with a suitable phono input or a separate phono stage. It is available in matt Polaris grey or matt white. Bought at Blacknote, the Planar 8 comes with Rega's lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
